> Use the live tool schema and respect company membership. Ask the person to authorize the exact fiscal document version in the signed-in app. A professional prepares and files included returns after authorization; AI does not file alone. A prepared file or approval receipt is not evidence of filing. Never claim completion from an accepted Task or Run. Keep credentials out of chat and logs. Agents features are internal or by private invitation.

# Skills

> Install and maintain reusable instructions and supporting files for Task Runs.

<Info>Melso Agents is available only internally or by private invitation. Agents-specific features require existing access. For the autónomo fiscal service, see [Get started](/essentials/quickstart).</Info>

Manage skills in [Apps & skills → Skills](https://app.melso.ai/apps?tab=skills). Use Yours for company skills, or Discover to find skills on skills.sh. App playbooks appear in each app’s drawer under Apps.

A skill is a folder with a `SKILL.md` and optional scripts, references and binary files. Melso stores the skill and installs it in the harness's skill directory for eligible Runs, next to Melso's built-in skills. A skill with `scope: "company"` is available across the company. With `scope: "areas"`, `area_ids` grants it to selected Areas, and only their Runs receive it. Check the scope before saving instructions that should be limited to one Area; see the [Skills reference](/api-reference/tags/skills).

A skill installed from a supported skill catalog or GitHub records its source in `config.origin` and follows it: once a day Melso re-installs an unedited copy when the source changed. A copy edited in Melso, or one with `auto_update` off, is only marked `update_available`. `POST /api/skills/{id}/refresh` installs the latest version and resumes updates.

Skill rows carry `id`, `workspace_id`, `name`, `description`, `config`, `scope`, `area_ids`, `created_by`, `created_at` and `updated_at`; the detail adds `content` (the `SKILL.md` text), `files` and, for a sourced skill, `source_edited`. A file carries `id`, `skill_id`, `path`, `content` and `encoding` (`utf8`, or `base64` for a binary file). Limits: 1 MiB per file, 8 MiB per skill and 256 files, on decoded size.
